Approached  by the son of  Birmingham's great Jazz
club owner , Jerry Grundhoeffer  ,  I agreed to paint
a portrait of sorts , using old clippings and photos ,
and memories that the son could add .  What we
ended up with , was  a jazz scene , complete with old
band members, some well used instruments and
sheet music ,  and even a few night-clubbers out for
a twirl in the middle of downtown Birmingham .

The painting , commissioned as a gift for his mother,
ended up as a print edition , packaged and
presented to each of the dozen siblings and their
families  , a few old band friends, and  some other
close friends , at  a Christmas celebration they
would all remember .  What a great way to
remember  "Grundy"
